Vital volunteers offered CV support

Flood volunteers are being invited to take part in career-enhancing CV workshops by Somerset County Council.

The Council is running two free CV workshops next month for anyone who has volunteered during the flood. The half-day sessions, which are being run by the Council’s Director of Human Resources, will help them expand their CVs to enhance their career prospects and make best use of the experience they have gained.

Councillor David Hall, Cabinet Member for Business, said: “The incredible commitment of many, many volunteers has been a constant throughout these floods and the now the recovery.

“The energy, skill and can-do attitude they have shown are the sorts of qualities that all employers look for. These sessions might help them use their experiences to find a new job or expand their career in ways they may not have previously considered. The workshops are a practical way for us to give a little something back and it will be one of our senior officers leading these sessions .”
