Canalside Flood Assistance Centre meeting
After public consultation, the well-attended Canalside Flood Assistance Centre meetings will now take place every fortnight, rather than weekly, with immediate effect. The next Canalside meeting will take place at the Canalside Conference Centre in Bridgwater on Wednesday 23 April.

Running from 5.30pm until 8pm, the meetings are a chance for people who have been affected by the flooding to meet and talk, and access a variety of agencies, which can offer advice and assistance regarding the aftermath of flooding, covering everything from insurance and grants to emotional support. All the relevant agencies involved in flood recovery are represented. Advice and assistance will be available from 5.30pm, with agencies available to answer any questions from 6pm.

Please be advised that the BBC may be present to film at the next meeting.

CV Workshops
The first CV Workshop delivered to flood volunteers by Somerset County Council’s Director of Human Resources, Richard Crouch, last Tuesday was considered a success by those who attended. The half-day session took place to help volunteers expand their CVs, enhance their career prospects and make best use of the experience they have gained. The next session is due to take place on Tuesday 15 April between 1pm and 4.30pm in Moorland, in the community portacabin in the village hall car park. To book your place, phone Linda Lyon on (01823) 355777 or email lelyon@somerset.gov.uk.

Roads and street lighting
Somerset County Council has put on extra teams to make sure that all Somerset roads are now fully open and all flood-affected street-lighting switched back on. Currently all flood affected Rights of Ways are being inspected.
