Improvements are planned to help cyclists at a busy road junction in Taunton town centre.
The Wood Street and Staplegrove Road/Station Road junction has an advanced stop line for cyclists heading out of the town. However, there is not always enough space for bicycles to safely pass traffic to access the box.
To fix this, Somerset County Council is to introduce an advisory cycle lane along Bridge Street leading up to the junction. The capacity for cars and larger vehicles will not be reduced by the changes.
Cllr Harvey Siggs, Somerset County Council Cabinet Member for Highways, said: “We always try to balance road space between the many different road users and have listened to feedback from people who regularly use this junction.
“We are pleased to be able to provide safer facilities for cyclists and will make these improvements in the next few months.”
