Somerset County Council Highways are pulling out the stops to resurface a stretch of the A38 Wellington Relief Road damaged by a diesel spill today (Tues).
Work will begin first thing in the morning to resurface a quarter of a mile of the road between Hoyles Road and Swains Lane which has been closed since lunchtime today following the spill from a fuel tanker.
The aim is for the road to be reopened tomorrow evening (Weds) depending on the full extent of the damage. Work on another road in the County has been postponed to allow the Highways gang to tackle the A38 immediately.
Motorists can expect high levels of traffic through Wellington town centre tomorrow and are advised to avoid if possible and use the motorway if they can.
