A Somerset business is feeling animated about working together with a Belgian company after receiving support from Somerset County Council.
Visual Business Group, a video production company based in Glastonbury, has been supported through a ‘match making’ exercise which introduced them to an animation business in Belgium.
The match making exercise was a result of The Open Innovation Business Collaboration Initiative. Visual Business Group was placed on a contact list which was then shared with business advisors across Northern Europe. The list can help complementary companies make connections.
Visual Business Group’s Creative Director, John Stephens, said: “I’m so pleased to be given this opportunity to reach new markets with my video production company and have started to collaborate with an exciting animation business in Belgium called Story Me – it’s great to be talking business with another European company and it could help unlock new markets for us. We started collaborating via email, now we are using Skype and who knows where it might lead now.”
Cllr David Hall, Cabinet Member for Inward Investment, Business and Policy at Somerset County Council, said: “It is good news that one of our local businesses has benefited from this initiative and can connect with a similar business, share ideas and expand their market. I would encourage other local businesses to follow suit and contact us to find out more about being placed on the contact list so that they can share their good practice and learn from European companies.”
Support was provided by Somerset County Council, a partner in the EU Interreg Open Innovation Project.
