Members of the public are needed to offer their views and suggestions on how to improve access to Somerset’s Rights of Way network.
Somerset County Council is looking for new members to join the Somerset Local Access Forum from May 2015.
Members of the forum all share an interest in Rights of Way but come from a broad range of backgrounds including landowners, teachers, business and tourism representatives, parish councillors, motor sport enthusiasts, horse riders, walkers, dog owners and cyclists. The forum also includes members of local and national organisations such as the National Farmers Union and the Country Land and Business Association.
The forum acts as an advisory body, offering views and suggestions on how to improve access for all users, including walkers, horse riders, cyclists, carriage and vehicle drivers. Members meet twice a year but also have the opportunity to contribute to a number of consultations throughout the year.
In the past, the forum has fed into the development of the Rights of Way Improvement Plan and the West Somerset Coast Path.
