Rode set for highway improvements

Major road improvements to the main A361 through Rode are due to take place later this month.

Somerset County Council’s highways teams will be carrying out essential resurfacing work and also making improvements to road signs and markings over five nights starting on 17 August.

A road closure will be required while work takes place but this has been planned from 7pm and 7am to minimise disruption as much as possible.

Cllr David Fothergill, Somerset County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways, said: “The A361 is a busy road so we fully appreciate that any work will cause some disruption. This is unavoidable, but we’ve tried our best to minimise this as much as possible by planning the work to take place overnight.

“The improvements will make a difference so please bear with us and accept my apologies in advance for any short term inconvenience.”

The road closure will affect the stretch of A361 between Parkgate Lane and Bradford Road. A temporary diversion route will be signed while the road closure is in place.
