The Local Government Ombudsman has issued a report following their investigation of a complaint against Somerset County Council. The complaint was about the review and discontinuation of a young adult’s care package. The Ombudsman found that there had been failures on the part of Somerset County Council and this had caused injustice to the complainant. Somerset County Council has agreed to take action which the Ombudsman regards as providing a satisfactory remedy for the complaint.

A spokesman for Somerset County Council said: “We accept Somerset County Council’s failings identified in the LGO report and apologise for the distress caused to the family involved. We are working on the findings from this case to make sure lessons are learned.”
