Somerset County Council’s Deputy Leader has welcomed a decision from the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) to stay in Taunton.
The news that UKHO, one of the county town’s largest employers, has committed its long term future to Somerset is a huge boost for the county – according to Cllr David Hall.
“I congratulate Taunton Deane on this excellent news,” said the Cabinet Member for Business, Inward Investment and Policy.
“This decision is a vote of confidence in Taunton and a vote of confidence in Somerset.
“It’s strategically important that UKHO remains in the county town and we’ve been working very hard behind the scenes alongside our partners to make this happen.
“Today’s announcement is tremendous news which will help secure jobs for local people and provide a real boost to the local economy.”
