Celebrating World Social Work Day

As the world marks World Social Work Day (Tuesday 15 March), Somerset County Council will be celebrating the dedication of their Social Workers with a twitter-feed full of thanks.

On the day, the Council’s Twitter feed will be taken over to celebrate social workers who work with vulnerable adults and children in Somerset. People can follow the discussion using @somersetcouncil and #WSWD16.

Cllr Frances Nicholson, Somerset County Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Families, said: “Social Workers should be celebrated, not just on World Social Work Day, but every day. We value the dedication they demonstrate, often while working in challenging situations.”

Cllr William Wallace, Somerset County Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Services, said: “Social Workers are motivated by making a difference, and have a positive impact on people’s lives each and every day. They don’t work for recognition or acclaim. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of our social work staff for the hard work they do every day.”

The Council is searching for social care staff to join their dedicated teams. Anyone interested in making a difference should visit www.socialcareandmore.co.uk to find out more about working and living in Somerset.
