The B3170 Honiton Road at Corfe Hill will be unexpectedly closed tonight (Tuesday 29 March) until around 9am tomorrow morning.
Patching of the road surface has been underway for the last few days under daytime temporary road closures, with the road reopened after 4pm for peak commuting hours.
The work was due to finish this afternoon but highways staff have discovered a gap under the road surface which could be a risk to traffic. The road will therefore be closed overnight for urgent repairs.
It is anticipated that the it will be reopened by 9am tomorrow under temporary traffic lights.
Anyone planning to use this stretch of road between now and 9am tomorrow morning are advised to use the diversion via Blagdon Hill.
Apologies for any inconvenience.
