Somerset County Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Families has paid tribute to students in Somerset receiving their GCSE results today (Thursday 25 August).
Cllr Frances Nicholson met with teenagers at Kingsmead School in Wiveliscombe as they collected their results this morning.
Cllr Nicholson said: “It has been a privilege to meet our young people as they collect their GCSE results, and to share this moment with them. All our students have worked so hard in the run up to results day. For that I’d like to thank them, and their families and teaching staff for their support.
“I know this is an incredibly nerve-wracking day, where the simple act of opening an envelope to see your results can suddenly become a very daunting prospect.
“Whether you are thrilled with your results, or hoped for something different, I’d like you all to remember that you are still so young, with so much ahead of you. I urge you to explore and seize the opportunities ahead, and look forward to the next step.”
