Temporary changes to the traffic management at Huntworth roundabout will be in place next week to enable the final resurfacing and street lighting works.
One way traffic lights will be used outside of peak hours on some days, operated manually to minimise disruption.
During the week commencing 24 October, carriageway surfacing works will be undertaken overnight using temporary one way lights.
- Tuesday 25 October – overnight works from 7pm to 6am, temporary lights in use on A38 – Huntworth Roundabout signals temporarily switched off – delays possible
- Wednesday 26 October – overnight works from 7pm to 6am, temporary lights in use on A38 – Huntworth Roundabout signals temporarily switched off – delays possible
- Thursday 27 October 7pm to 6am temporary lights in use on A38 narrow traffic lanes will be in place on approach to Market Junction
- Friday 28 October 7pm to 6am Temporary lights in use on the A38
At times during the resurfacing works it will be necessary to hold HGV’s wishing to go along the A38 between Huntworth Roundabout and the junction to the Cattle Market depending on the available width of carriageway.
Following the traffic management changes, the works to the roundabout will be complete in time for Bridgwater and North Petherton Carnivals.
Cllr David Fothergill, Somerset County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways, said: “I would like to thank residents and drivers for their patience whilst we finish these important works. I am pleased that we have managed to complete the remaining works before the Bridgwater and North Petherton Carnivals.
“We have ensured that management of the continued works off the roundabout itself will minimise disruption to keep traffic moving as much as possible. It is expected that this final part of the works will be complete by early November.”
