New Talking Cafe opens in Minehead

A new care and support Community Connect Talking Cafe opens in Minehead next week.

The Talking Cafe will take place at The Beach Hotel in Minehead (TA24 5AP) every Monday (excluding bank holidays) from 10am to 1pm – starting on Monday 10 April.

Entrance is via The Beach Café conservatory next to the Tourist Information.

At the Talking Cafe people can find information and advice on care and support options. No appointments are needed, just drop in to pick up information and advice and talk to a friendly member of the social care team or a volunteer.

The Talking Cafe will offer a regular meeting place where there is a chance for people to have a coffee and cake at the Beach Café and find out information in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

A spokesperson for Somerset County Council, said: “The Beach Hotel is in the heart of Minehead and is visited by local people for lunches and refreshments regularly. Holding a local Talking Cafe in the comforting and relaxed atmosphere of the hotel will allow people to get quick advice on social care and information on support groups and services – such as social and leisure groups, care services and volunteering opportunities in their local area. There is more going on in local communities than you might realise and some of it may be just what you need. Please pop in – even if it is just to say hello and have a cup of tea.”

The Community Connect Talking Cafe in Minehead replaces the Community Connect drop-ins that previously took place at The Sanctuary in Watchet, Becket House in Williton and Minehead Baptist Church in Minehead.
