One way restrictions to be lifted in Bridgwater

The temporary one way system around Wylds Road, The Drove and Bristol Road in Bridgwater will be removed next month.

EDF Energy has announced that the work will be finished ahead of the original 29 weeks forecast, with crucial resurfacing work taking place this week with overnight road closures in place on Bristol Road and The Drove for eight nights and from June 12 on Wylds Road and The Drove for seven nights.

Once the resurfacing is complete and the traffic lights on the Bristol Road junction with The Drove have been tested, the main one-way system will be lifted.

However, temporary traffic management will remain in place at the Wylds Road and The Drove junction until the completion of the works.  The northbound ‘no entry’ sign near the East Quay Medical Centre will also remain in place until all works have been completed at the end of June.

An SCC spokesperson said: “We welcome the news that the works continue ahead of schedule on the two key junction improvements.  The removal of the temporary one way system should ease some of the congestion that has been felt by motorists.

“We would like to thank everyone for their patience during these important works and whilst the resurfacing and remaining works are being carried out.”
