Taunton Town FC supports Fostering and Adoption in Somerset

Taunton Town Football Club and Fostering and Adoption in Somerset joined forces on Saturday 21 October, for an afternoon of family fun and awareness-raising.

Sparky the fostering and adoption mascot and Taunton Town’s mascot Wordsworth had a penalty shoot-out at the match, which Sparky won 3-2.
Sparky and the fostering and adoption team were greeted by enthusiastic young fans in the crowd and they gave the Peacocks a big welcome as they ran on to the pitch to play Winchester City.

Giuseppe Fraschini of Taunton Town FC and Junior Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care at Somerset County Council, said: “Taunton Town Football Club is delighted to support a great cause and fun event; to help find foster carers and adoptive parents for children in the local community who need a loving home. Congratulations to Sparky on his 3-2 victory, we may have lost the mascot penalty shoot-out but it brought us good luck on the day as the Peacocks won 4-1.”

Councillor Frances Nicholson, Cabinet Member for Children and Families at Somerset County Council, was really pleased with the success of the event: “This was an enjoyable family event and an excellent opportunity to spread the message of our need for more foster carers and adopters.

“I would also like to thank all the staff, players and spectators at Taunton Town Football Club who made the Somerset County Council team so welcome.”

More foster carers and adopters are urgently needed in Somerset right now. If you can provide a child with a safe and loving home we would love to hear from you.
