Sherborne Road resurfacing underway

Highways staff are working through the night on the next phase of vital improvement work on the A30 Sherborne Road in Yeovil.

A major drainage upgrade was carried out last July to tackle structural issues which were causing cracking and potholes on the key route. Work to resurface the road is now underway and being done at night to minimise disruption.

To allow preparation works in advance of resurfacing, temporary traffic lights are in place between 6pm and 7am and will be until Tuesday, 6 February. The resurfacing itself will be taking place between Tuesday, 6 February and Monday, 12 February and require a road closure between 6pm and 7am for those five nights.

Footway resurfacing work has also been programmed in the area to coincide with the resurfacing road closure. Approximately 400m of footway, on the southern side of Sherborne Road, will be reconstructed over the course of 6 nights. Works commence on Wednesday the 7 February.

Councillor John Woodman, Cabinet Member for Highways, said: “Last summer’s drainage works were essential and now we are finishing the job off.

“We know all roadworks cause some disruption, but we are working at night to keep this to a minimum and keep the traffic moving smoothly during the day. We would like to thank motorists in advance for their patience.”
