Libraries across Somerset are marking National Libraries this week (8-13 October) with a range of events and activities – with a particular focus on ‘wellbeing’.
Highlights include a joint story-time on Saturday 13th October at 11am with libraries reading Nick Sharratt’s ‘Shark in the Park’ together, and ‘Wellbeing Wednesday’ to mark World Mental Health Awareness day on the 10th October.
Other events taking place include children yoga taster sessions, volunteering and exercise information sessions, author talks, singing for fun, Tai Chi, mindfulness colouring and much more.
Somerset Libraries will also be taking donations of sanitary products to distribute to women experiencing period poverty.
David Hall, Somerset County Council’s Cabinet Member with responsibilities for libraries said: “I would encourage everyone to get involved and be part of the many events and initiatives on offer throughout Somerset libraries this week. There are plenty of talks, taster and information sessions taking place at individual libraries across Somerset, all designed to improve our health and wellbeing.”
