Virtual Easter hunt eggs on Bridgwater’s smart travellers

A modern twist on an ancient tradition will see Bridgwater’s first ever virtual Easter Egg hunt later this month.

The Bridgwater Way travel initiative is inviting communities in North Petherton, Stockmoor and Wilstock to take part in the hunt which is similar in design to the Pokemon Go phenomenon.

Families and children will search out hidden eggs in local parks with the help of the BetterPoints App – a free Smartphone App through which they earn points and prizes for travelling actively.

As users come within a close enough range, the virtual eggs will appear on the screen – and the more “virtual eggs” you collect the more chances you get to win prizes.

The Easter Egg hunt is running over four weeks, starting on Monday 25 March and families can get involved in any of these participating parks:

  • Bridgwater – Cowslip Walk Park, Shire Street Playground and Romney Road Playing Field
  • North Petherton – Parkersfield Playing Ground and Memorial Playing Field

Kristine Bloor, Project Officer for BetterPoints said: “This event is an amazing way to get active with the whole family, explore some beautiful green spaces and find virtual eggs in participating parks in Bridgwater.

She continued: “We hope to see lots of you hunting out those virtual eggs to be in with the chance to win some amazing prizes!”

Three weekly prize bundles will be given away with the following prizes, to three lucky winners:

     One Jolly Jumper family pass

     One £5 Argos Voucher

     One £5 National Book Token

At the end of the challenge the following grand prize – worth £200 – will be awarded to one family:

     One Year’s family membership for the National Trust

     £30 Cinema Voucher

     £50 Prezzo Voucher

To join in just visit one of these participating parks from 25th March – 21st April. Using your BetterPoints app click the play ▶ button in the upper right hand corner and start a ‘walk’. If you do not have the BetterPoints app, download it for free and enter referral code TBWEGG to ‘join’ the programme.

Along the way we will send you some messages and the odd clue and when you find a virtual egg we will award you BetterTickets which enter you into our fantastic prize draw.

The Bridgwater Way is a project focussed on helping to keep Bridgwater moving as the town goes through a period of significant growth and investment. It includes investment in new roads and improvements to existing roads and junctions, as well as miles of new and improved routes for pedestrians and cyclists.  It also offers active travel initiatives to make getting to work or school easier and safer.
