Step Up Somerset supporting workers in tough economic climate

During these uncertain economic times, Step Up Somerset is a one-stop-shop for people and businesses looking for support, advice and information about employment, skills, careers and apprenticeships in the county.

The site has resources to help anyone looking to realise the next step of their career ambitions, as well as support for people looking for work, worried about money, or facing redundancy.

Visitors to the site will find guidance on how to re-train for a new career or how to enhance their skill set to progress in the workplace.

Anyone who is facing redundancy and feels unsure about what to do next is being encouraged to visit Step Up Somerset where there is lots of free advice and guidance available.

There is advice about employees’ rights when facing redundancy, signposting to short-term support such as claiming benefits, and information and links to popular job search sites, as well as tips for completing applications, CV writing and job interviews.

The site has a Wellbeing section with access to mental health resources to help anyone who is struggling to find employment or their next step in education and training.

Step Up Somerset also provides plenty of advice and support for businesses, such as offering tips on how to develop a talent pipeline through apprenticeships and industry placements, redundancy support and promoting events.
