Although we, in Somerset, couldn’t commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) this year as we have done previously, HMD still has an important and significant message in the darkness of our present times.

So, you may like to reflect on how you can be a light in the darkness. What will you stand against and stand up for? You may not see the difference it makes, but it will – like a candle alight in the darkness.

On Holocaust Memorial Day, Reverend Jane Eastell of St Johns Chruch has a message:

“Although we, in Somerset, couldn’t commemorate HMD this year as we have done previously, HMD still has an important and significant message in the darkness of our present times.

So, you may like to reflect on how you can be a light in the darkness. What will you stand against and stand up for -you may not see the difference it makes, but it will – like a candle alight in the darkness.”

And from The High Sheriff of Somerset:

“As we reflect on the depths of darkness to which humanity can sink, let us look for the light. The light that illuminates the persecution for all to see. The light that will guide us to stand up to injustice. The light that will gather us all together For together, we will banish the darkness.”
