Somerset County Council’s highways teams are going to be taking advantage of the upcoming Easter holiday to carry vital drainage work at Barrington.
The B3168 Puckington Road at Barrington will be closed for 19 days from the 6 to 30 of April, with the first two weeks of work taking place during the Easter break while schools are off. The road will be closed to all traffic during these dates, except for residents within the closure, and a signed diversion route will be in place.
Another important drainage scheme will also be undertaken on the B3168. The second scheme, on the B3168 Ilford Bridges Road at Ilton gets underway on 4 May for 15 Days. The road needs to close to all traffic until 19 May. Access will be maintained throughout for residents within the closure. Again, a signed diversion route will be in place.
The work will improve drainage on the roads, which are part of the county’s precautionary gritting network, and help to reduce the formation of ice during cold weather next winter.
Both works will understandably cause some disruption but it’s crucial they are undertaken to ensure the safety of road users.
