Night-time closure for urgent repairs on A37 Fosse Road next month

Somerset County Council’s Highways team will undertake urgent repairs and patching work on A37 Fosse Road, near Shepton Mallet, for one night on Friday 10 March. The work is necessary to ensure that the road is safe and in good condition for motorists.

The repairs and patching work will involve resurfacing sections of the road to repair potholes and other damage. The full road closure will begin at 6.30pm on March 10 and is expected to be lifted by 7.30am the following morning.

The council advises motorists to plan their journeys in advance and to allow extra time for travel during the night of 10 March.

Councillor Mike Rigby, Somerset County Council’s Lead Member for Transport and Digital, said: “We understand that roadworks can be inconvenient for motorists, but we want to assure everyone that this work is necessary to ensure the safety and reliability of A37 Fosse Road. We have carefully planned this work to minimise disruption with work taking place overnight.

“Please do check the details on the diversion and plan ahead if you use this route regularly.” Details of approved roadworks can be found on our searchable map at www.travelsomerset.co.uk/roadworks. If anyone is concerned about roadworks they can flag this up to the team by contacting @TravelSomerset on Twitter and Facebook.
